​TRANSPORTATION

How to travel
​from Sapa to Hanoi?

Sa Pa town is only 38km from Lao Cai city and 376km from Hanoi. You can choose to travel by sleeping bus or train. 

If you go on a sleeping local bus, the vehicles depart from My Dinh, Giai Phong or Long Bien (Hanoi) to Sapa in only 5 - 6 hours. You can contact some bus companies such as Sao Viet, Ha Son Hai Van, Interbus,... While the Lao Cai train runs at 9am or 10pm from Hanoi until the next morning to Lao Cai with various seating types.

When is the best time
​to visit Sapa?

The best time to travel Sapa is from October to March. During this time, Sapa climate is portrayed as cold and less rainy weather like other places impacted by weather in Northwest Vietnam. Specifically, in spring, Sapa is filled with colorful flowers and lush green trees, creating wonderful landscapes.

 

Weather of Sapa from October to March will bring you to an absolutely enjoyment with low temperature and even snowfall which might not happen in a tropical-climate country like Vietnam. Another best time to visit Sapa is from March to May. Weather in Sapa during this period of time is characterized by sunny days and fresh air. However, weather in June is unstable.

must-try food in Sapa?

+ Cap Nach Pork, one of the best food in Sapa, is fatless, firm and tender, usually grilled or roasted as the whole with a lot of herbs and spices.

+ Sapa Salmon and Sturgeon are famous for its fresh and tasty flavor. A steaming hot pot of salmon served with an assortment of fresh vegetables is a great way to warm up.

+ Grilled food has become an important part in local life and one of the unmissable things to do on a trip to Sapa. Nothing is better than sitting around charcoal oven, grilling some foods, sipping some wine and enjoying the fresh air.

 

+ Thang Co is actually a traditional dish of the H’Mong tribe in Sapa, which contains horse meat, horse organs as well as vegetables, a blend of lemongrass, chilli, local cabbage and other mystery spices.
